Dr. Erik Madison

Specialty / Job Title

Dr. Erik Madison, while not quite a native has called Naples home since moving to Isles of Capri in 1972. He attended Tommie Barfield Elementary School, East Naples Middle School and Lely High School before earning a BS in Marine Biology at Florida Institute of Technology and his DVM degree at University of Florida in 1992.

After 2 years in mixed practice Dr. Madison took a full time job in emergency medicine that developed into a career. ‘Though the hours are difficult and the work environment can be stressful at times, this is the most challenging, interesting, and rewarding field of medicine for me.’

Dr. Madison joins the Big Cypress National Preserve Florida panther capture team whenever the opportunity arises to help with their collaring efforts to help study these endangered cats.

Dr. Rebecca Downes

Dr. Rebecca Downes is originally from Ohio and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2018. After starting in a rural mixed animal practice in Ohio, seeing a mix of large and small animals, she developed an interest in the urgent and emergent aspect of veterinary medicine. Prior to moving to Naples, Dr. Downes practiced at a large 24hr daytime and emergency clinic in Ohio. Once moving to Naples, she took a brief break to do general practice urgent care at a local clinic before joining the doctors at EPH full time in 2023. When she is not working, she is enjoying time with her family and pets.

Dr. Kevin Oomah

Dr. Kevin Oomah’s veterinary career started as a volunteer at an emergency vet hospital while completing his Bachelor in Biochemistry from the University of Victoria. After working as a technicians assistant for a year at the emergency vet, he completed a Masters of Physiology in human molecular endocrinology and gene transfer. Dr. Oomah received his Doctorates of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Saskatchewan’s Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Since then he has been working in the emergency and critical care field. He has a special interest in exotics, trauma, skin grafts and orthopedics.

During his free time he enjoys spending time with his family and athletics. He has competed in both bodybuilding and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and is currently developing a personal yoga practise.

Dr. Abigail Zuikov

I graduated from the University of Missouri and have always wanted to live close to the beach, so my family and I moved down to Florida. We have two chihuahuas, a retriever mix, and a bunny. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, playing basketball, and watching formula one racing.
I was a general practitioner for a few years before I realized that emergency medicine was my passion. Being there for clients and pets at all hours of the night, and when other places are closed, is one of the reasons why I love the ER setting. Emergencies are never expected or wanted, but if they occur, I look forward to meeting you and your fur babies and helping them to feel better as quickly as possible!

Dr. Bradley Pietila

Dr. Bradley graduated from Michigan State in 2009 after a lifelong dream of becoming a Veterinarian. After working first in general practice, he has settled into emergency medicine for the past 12 years. The variety and surgery in ER have kept his zest for practicing medicine alive. Dr. Bradley has worked at EPH for the past two years after working in emergency in multiple other states.
At home, along with his family, he enjoys the outdoors, Nordic skiing, farming and whatever life may bring.

Jared Pereira

I am a born and raised south Florida native. My passion for all animals, both wild and domestic, can be traced back to childhood. I was raised as an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. I was taught to respect nature along with all the beautiful life within it. I have been intrigued by zoology and veterinary medicine for as long as I can remember. I personally have owned, treated, and cared for a wide range of animals from tiny baby chameleons to large equines. I have over 18 years’ experience in emergency medicine and critical care. It’s extremely rewarding to have the ability to aid helpless animals, treat their illnesses, repair their injuries, and witness their recovery. It honestly is an unremarkable feeling. It’s amazing and gratifying to see the love, compassion, and friendship that these animals can provide for a person or family. I am a father of four beautiful daughters, and we own and spoil 2 large breed dogs, 2 Chihuahua mixes, 2 cats, and a wide variety of small exotics. I am enticed by new veterinary technology and medicine. I look forward to continuing to help orchestrate and facilitate emergency care for all the furry residents in our southwest Florida community.
